Description
Magoutes Siatista Rosé — Macedonia, Greece 2025
Magoutes Vineyard sits at 800 metres above sea level in the rugged, inhospitable region of Siatista in northern Macedonia — one of Greece’s most compelling and least-known wine territories. Winemaker Dimitri Diamantis practices radical low-intervention viticulture: spontaneous fermentation, gentle racking off skins, and aging in old barrels to finish. The vineyard holds sway over everything.
This rosé is a blend of 80% Xinomavro and 20% Moschomavro — an über-rare indigenous variety (meaning “black Muscat”) grown almost exclusively by Diamantis. The result is a wine of delicate partridge-eye color, subtly aromatic with hints of redcurrants and fraises de bois, wonderfully fruity within a structured core of zingy acidity. A rosé of real character and place.
